Budget / Financial Questions
Question: Can you please tell me how much of the 2026 entertainment budget is allocated for kids events? Please include amount and percentage of budget for events that are kid-focused. If you could include the amount and percentage of event budget that is for kid-allowed vs adult only events, i would appreciate it!
The budget for entertainment includes all events. It is not broken up by age. If you would like to see more kids events, please attend an amenities committee meeting and let them know.
Question: I am writing to request an update regarding the new fence project for Hideaway. Please provide the following information for the community records:Project Timeline: What is the current progress and estimated completion date? Project Financials: What are the specific costs to date, and what are the details of the approved vendor bid(s).
The fence capital project is currently being bid. Once three bids are received, they will be reviewed by the finance committee. The AFE is then presented to the board for final approval. We expect to have the AFE approved at the June board meeting.
Question: Pg 19 of the Bylaws defines assessment as: (B) The Board of Directors shall not take any of the following actions without the approval of fifty (50) percent plus one (1) of the Club members voting in a binding referendum: Assessments of any kind. An assessment is defined as any levy of a specific amount, imposed on the membership for: (a) a specific project for a specific length of time; (b) or as a lump sum. This provision shall not apply to dues levied to meet the requirements of an annual operating budget or dues levied to meet the requirements of a court order or mandated by law. The $25 ($32) dues increase meets all criteria of an assessment plus is a separate line item on our statements just as the road maintenance assessment. Why is this definition ignored by BOD and a referendum not conducted as the Bylaws require? It appears that BOD/GM ignored the definition and decided to identify it as a dues increase to meet their agenda.
As per the bylaws, an assessment is for a “project for a specific length of time” and a “lump sum” – neither which apply to your question. Dues are not assessments and are voted on and approved by the Board.
Question: Where can I fine in the website what was budgeted for lakes, ie Solitude, stockin fish, etc
Lakes has their own designated section within the budget.
Bylaws / Rules
Question: Rules and Regulations, Article XVI. LOT SALES, Section One explains that the rule implements the lot sales policy adopted in 2003 (which is widely understood to have set the price for purchase of a contiguous lot without membership to $1000), but Section Four of the rule directs that the BOD sets the prices. As it does not affirm the $1,000 price, the policy is still necessary to do so. Please provide me a copy. I will suggest that Jerry Mullins discuss with the Rules Committee proposal of an amendment to Section Four to simply incorporate the $1,000 price for clarity and to render the policy document no longer necessary.
In 2020, the property stewardship committee noted that several members were requesting to purchase the lots next to theirs, but that no purchase price had been set on the lots. The Committee recommended that the lots be sold for $1,000. At the following board meeting that year, the board member chair of the committee explained “that the Property Stewardship Committee met to discuss the sales price of a Club owned lot that adjoins a members’ lot.” He added that said lots would be combined into one as soon as possible. A board member moved to approved to set the sales price at $1,000 and it was seconded. The motion was approved 9 – 1.
Question: Who do I contact about my neighbor parking on the grass in his front yard?
Please contact the Security office or email membership@hideawaytexas.net.
Question: With rule changes for golf course on the horizon. How do you intend to enforce these. Carts drive off paths on par3 ‘s, carts parked right next to greens constantly, and non golfers on course cart paths during normal golf course operating hours ( not on mondays) Fines? Suspension of privileges? Removal from course for violations? By who? Change for change sake has no teeth.
Rules are enforced and the fines are designated in the rules document. The pro shop has Marshall’s on the course during busy hours. If you happen to see something, please let the Marshall know or call the pro shop. We appreciate your help.

Question: I submitted a question surrounding the timing of the fireworks this year being on 7/5 and was told this is done and secured a year out, & we would be trying to secure July 4th as the 2027 date. As we are a year out, please advise what date the fireworks will be in 2027. Thanks.
We have not received our confirmed date from our supplier at this time. As soon as we receive our confirmation, we will let the community know.
Question: When post treatment can we expect to see the algae and weeds begin to clear? How do we know our boat dock area was treated? I live on middle lake & it appears as though the boat launch end of the middle lake is clearing up, however, the area around my boat dock & my neighbors is not. It is becoming difficult to get our boat out of the slip.
The treatment can take weeks to work. For updates on what other steps are being taken, please attend the Lakes Committee meeting or review the minutes from their meeting.
Question: When will an updated menu for the grill come out? It was announced back in April it would be soon. Thanks.
The new menu will be available upon the relaunching of the restaurant on August 18, 2026.
Question: Who came up with Heritage Kitchen? I would like for someone explain why a change is necessary. Why is there a need to change the name of the club grill? Who decides that? Do members have any input?
The concept of “Heritage Clubhouse Kitchen” was developed as part of an ongoing effort to evaluate and enhance the Club’s dining experience, branding, and overall member engagement. The proposed name reflects an emphasis on community, tradition, and the unique character of Hideaway. We’re excited about the future of the Heritage Clubhouse Kitchen and look forward to members experiencing the new menu, refreshed environment, and the many enhancements planned for our dining program.
Question: What are the job responsibilities of the Food & Beverage Manager vs the Chef we are trying to hire?
The Food and Beverage Manager oversees all operations in the clubhouse and the Chef runs the kitchen.
Question: Will the lakes be sprayed again? Seaweed beneath the surface is terrible and tangling in our boat prop. On the third lake.
The lakes were sprayed for the second time the week of July 15th. Please give it some time to see improvements. We are also looking at other options to help with the situation. The issue will be discussed at the upcoming Lakes Committee if you can attend. If not, minutes will be made available for your reference.
Question: I note the new specials and Father’s day brunch show The Heritage Clubhouse. Have we named it now?
Look for our exciting new clubhouse restaurant launch coming towards the end of July. It will be an updated menu and some other refreshed ideas, including the name. 🙂
Question: Where are the plans and activities for 4th of July posted? I cannot seem to locate on web site.
The 4th of July events are posted in Member Central and on the Members Only Facebook page. If you have a specific question on one of the events, please contact Administration.
Question: Why aren’t private golf carts allowed to be used on course with a paid trail fee?
This issue has been discussed by various committees. Each time the results were to maintain our existing golf cart program. Feel free to reach out to the golf committee about this issue.
Question: Who do we contact to rent an RV Campground space and what is the cost?
You can contact the front gate to reserve a spot. The cost is $25 a day.
Question: Who is Andrew Johnson at the Grill?
Andrew is the Food & Beverage Manager.
Question: I don’t use the Clubhouse restaurant. I don’t want to see my dues go up, but I would love to be able to allocate the extra $25 dollar fee towards something else. Has anyone else felt this way? And what would you do to repeal this unfair “tax” ?
Like this year, dues has always supported the clubhouse restaurant. As an example, with the loss associated with food and beverage in 2025, it cost each member roughly $16 per month in dues. The plan this year is to start working towards reducing the budgeted amount needed in the next few years and strive for a breakeven scenario. In regards to changing the dues, this would need to be a board action. According to our bylaws, dues will not be changed within a fiscal year except by a two-thirds (2/3) vote of the board members.
Question: We have been told for a while now that the pool cannot open until the final inspection happens. Is there an update on when that might happen? Thank you very much.
The pool has been permitted and is scheduled to open on Memorial Day weekend.
Question: “I noticed catfish isn’t on the current Clubhouse menu. Is it temporarily unavailable or permanently removed?” Thank you.
Our new chef has recently started and is crafting a new menu for the clubhouse. At this time, we can’t confirm that catfish will be on the new menu but we do know he is definitely be looking at several fish options.
Question: Can you please provide the weekly rotation or maintenance schedule for the Beach Lake cleanup? it is now mid-May, and we should be able to utilize the beach area on the first warm weather days with it already cleaned, maintained, and ready for use.
Our maintenance team diligently works at maintaining the lodge and beach area. If you notice issues with the area, please contact Administration immediately so the issue can be addressed.
Question: What are the hours for the adult pool? I was hoping to swim early before work. Is there a time early for swimming laps? Thank you.
The adult pool is open from 10:00 AM to 9:00 PM Tuesday thru Saturday, and 12:00 PM to 9:00 PM Sunday. Aqua aerobics may be scheduled separately and may occur without lifeguards.
Question: When will the porta-potty be returned to the adult pool?
The porta-potty will not be returning. Bathrooms are available in the lower-level lodge near the snack bar.
Question: Any update on progress with a new updates menu for our club?
No timetable has been set for a revamped menu, but the restaurant is currently testing out new specials, and the new chef is working on adding items.

Question: Are the slides from last nights GM Town Hall on the website? If so, where?
The slides are available on the website, right below where you clicked on to view these answers.
Question: This is a great idea to help with questions. Who is responsible for updating this web page? It seems like it would be helpful to have all dates about the board elections on the calendar and even a separate graphic like appeared in the Hideaway News. Before the newspaper came out, I was searching for the dates and couldn’t find it anywhere. Thanks.
Thank you for your feedback. The website is maintained by the administration team. With the ballots being mailed shortly, we will be posting a page dedicated to the 2026 Board Election. We will update this response with the URL once it its available.
Question: Why is providing video/audio of Board Meetings considered a liability when Texas Law/Regulations require School Boards to provide one or the other?
In Texas, there is a major legal difference between a public school board meeting and a private HOA board meeting when it comes to videotaping. A school board is a governmental body and their meetings are considered public forums. Our HOA is a private corporation and meetings are for members only. As previously discussed during a town hall, two of the major reasons are risk management and litigation concerns, and governing document/policy control.
Question: What is the update on hiring a Chef? Rumor has it, the one to start on 5/19 has backed out. (Maybe try for a good cook instead).
We are continuing to work hard to strengthen the dining experience at Hideaway and remain focused on providing great food and service for our members. As with any key position, we want to ensure we find the right fit for the Hideaway Team. Staffing timelines and discussions can change during the hiring process, and it’s our policy that we do not discuss personnel matters publicly. We are excited about the future of food service at Hideaway and look forward to welcoming the right chef when the right opportunity comes along.
Question: How do I find the Official Members Facebook group? The link provided on this page is an email link that is invalid.
You can find the group here: Hideaway Lake Members | Facebook

Question: Recently there was discussion about a board member that refuses to sign a Code of Ethics document and is even in his second term. Did the board member state why he would not sign a COE? His decision seems “unethical” considering he was elected by the community membership to be above board and he demonstrates by signing a COE that he respects the membership that elected him to serve “ethically”.
We suggest that you contact the board member directly to get a response to your question.
Question: Have all of the board members signed the Code of Ethics?
At this time, all but one of the current Board members have signed the Code of Ethics.
Question: I was not aware of the July 22 GM Club Conversation until about 1 week prior and unfortunately I already something scheduled on that date. When is the next GM Club Conversation? What is the frequency of these meetings – quarterly? I would like to put the future dates on my calendar so I can plan attend.
They are scheduled roughly every other month. During the budget season, there are traditionally more to keep the community updated on projects, plans, etc. They are publicized in member central, in the Facebook members group, via email, and in the soon to be available app.
Question: Has the Fair Proposal regarding land swap and building been finally approved by City & HOA ? And if so, when will the estimated construction begin? When will the connection of the Clubhouse to the City of Lindale sewer construction begin?
The Fair project has been approved by both the City and the Club. They are currently working on moving forward with the project – including the sewer connection. The Club is expecting an updated on their progress in August. At this time, we will have a better understanding of timelines, construction, etc.
Question: What is the timeline of completion of the power pole project on East? Will the old poles be removed?
Oncor has not given Hideaway a timeframe for when the poles will be removed. All utilities need to be moved from the old poles to the new ones – including cable, internet, and phone. Until that is done, the old poles will not be removed.
Question: Why was the decision made to have the fireworks this year (2026) on 7/5? Many of us have family and friends in town for this patriotic holiday and they work Monday and have to drive/fly home Sunday and will miss this terrific event that is a part of living at Hideaway. As Friday 7/3 is the “observed” holiday, and Saturday is our 250th Anniversary, why did we not utilize one of those evenings? And, was this voted on? Was it disclosed to members prior to the decision being finalized so that we could weigh in on the issue? Thanks.
The fireworks have been scheduled with our supplier for the day after July 4th based on their availability. We have requested July 4th, and if it becomes available next year we will take it. These types of shows are booked a year in advance and are hard to come by.
Question: Why isn’t there a 15 MPH sign at the back gate (North) as you enter so guest know.
The 15 MPH signs are posted to slow the traffic down in the back gate area. Additional sign placement will be discussed at the next Security Meeting.
Question: Procedure to file a protest with HAWL board, before contacting the State of Texas, should there be a voting procedure violation.
Feel free to contact the Board President directly to express your concerns.
Question: It may seem like a dumb question/suggestion, but has anybody ever considered a requirement that all guests that are called in the gate have to be called in using the website? The member could enter the dates and names through the website. If this is a weird suggestion I apologize in advanced. Lol. I just thought it would save some time for the guards. Or maybe rather than a requirement, it could just be an option since some people may not have internet. Have a great day.
Thank you for the suggestion. Unfortunately, our systems do not allow this option.
Question: What order are the questions/answers posted? Can we put the newest on top so we don’t have to scroll thru a bunch to see if ours has been answered yet?
New questions will be posted at the top of each section.
Question: I saw that we have a company “clearing” the weed overgrowth on middle lake and 3rd lake. I live on middle lake. I know they are beginning in the cove; will they be coming along shore lines near boat docks and sea walls to also clear what they are able to get to? Our neighbors have excessive weeds that have creeped to behind our boat dock and it is creating issues with our boat. When will this begin? Thanks.
We have completed the overgrowth removal at this time but will continue spraying the lakes to help mitigate the growth. The next spray date is scheduled for July 10th.
Question: Is there a time frame for answers when questions are posed? Thanks!
Depending on volume and complexity, we’ll do our best to answer the questions as soon as possible. Best case, within a day or two. Worst case, within the week they are received.
Question: Today is Monday, June 29. Both Gate phones are beeping busy. Is the phone system down?
Yes, the phone system is down and currently being worked on by our suppliers. Temporary numbers will be set up and sent out to membership for use until they are working again. We apologize for the inconvenience.
Question: Since the phones have been down for 6 days, how can I place a curbside order? Since it is the last day of the month and if the mandatory charge does not carry forward, I will forfeit that money if not used today. I am not able to go and eat in. Is there an email or another number to call?
The temporary number for the grill is 903-385-0561. You can call this number for reservations or to-go orders.
Question: Why were you able to add another emergency phone number, but the phones lines are still out.
We were able to add another line outside of our current system.
Question: Can we get an update from the Board and/or City on the big Fair project? What was approved? What’s the timeline on implementation? What will be the status of currently existing lots owned by the Club or by Fair? For instance, there are two Fair lots (406 and 408 Lakeview) next to me. I had heard a rumor that these lots and the accompanying memberships would go over to the Club. I don’t particularly like rumors; what are the facts?
Both the club and the city approved the Fair plan. The “Fair Development Presentation” is available under the Community Updates section on member central. It outlines the project and the tracts transferred to the club. The memberships that Fair has will remain with Fair – they will not be transferring any memberships to the club. As far as a timeline, as soon as we hear from Fair that all development plans (including sewer approval and annexation from Lindale) are completed, they will provide us with start dates. We do know that the East Course project along 849 is slated to be the first.
Question: When will middle lake be treated for weeds (not familiar with the names, i.e., duck weed, etc.). It is becoming a problem for those of us with boat docks and boats. The creep is now all the way to my boat dock. Please advise how we treat, what we can expect and when we can expect it. Once treated when will we see improvement? Thank you.
The middle and third lakes are scheduled to be sprayed on Thursday, May 14th. Please watch for an announcement on this on Member Central or our Facebook Group.
Question: I would like to ask each of the candidates as to his/her participation in generating signatures or in support of the petition by their own signature that was generated toward the end of last year to fire the General Manager?
You can ask this question directly to each candidate at the upcoming POSA Meet the Candidates night to be held in the Upper Lodge on Thursday, May 21st at 6:00 PM. If you are unable to make the event, we suggest you contact each candidate directly.
